I met my old friend – a newbie photographer – the other day, and after learning what field in photography I am in, he asked me what is the main difference between fashion and glamour photography. As a photographer, I have been shooting fashion and glamour for quite sometime already. From weekend shoots with friends to portfolio shoots to media launchings to model castings to full-blown fashion events.
Fashion photography gives emphasis on the clothes and accessories and themes. The pose and the composition must accentuate its fashion element, rather than the model. On the other hand, glamour photography gives emphasis on the model itself. The pose and composition and even the lighting must accentuate the features of the model – eyes, lips, body curves, etc.

Fashion: Aprille Cabrera
The picture of Aprille above highlights her oversized sunglasses, wooden pendant, dress, belt and shoes. The pose accentuates the curve of her body and legs which in turn accentuates the fit of the dress on her body.
Glamour: Simona Simona
The picture of Simona above focuses on her eyes, nose, lips and expression. The lighting was placed in a way that it adds mystery to her expression.
