Tokyo Getaway

Hi dear readers. Please forgive me for not updating this blog more often. The main reason is my day job, which also happens to be our family business. We worked 12 to 16 hours a day to finish everything in time for this trip.

This was our first time to visit Japan. We were surprised by the -4°C (negative four) temperature - we Googled the weather report and it said 3 to 8°C. Anyway, aside from the city proper of Tokyo, we also went to Mt Fuji (photo above), Hakone, Nikko, and the Kegon Falls. No Disneyland, since time wasn’t on our side.

Watch out for more Japan photos in the days to come. :)

Coron, Palawan

We went to Coron last All Saint’s Day weekend. Coron is really immaculate and magnificent, truly a photographer’s paradise. There are tons of photo opportunities, if you know where to look.

Day 1 and 2 were cloudy. Like boring-sky cloudy. Rather than feeling frustrated about it, I just made the best out of the condition. Here are some of my shots:

Jackie

Saying that these photos are overdue is the biggest understatement of the year (or not). The actual shoot was done last week of June, along with this, this and this. I am sorry it took what, 3 months, before I came up with the processed photos.

Jackie here is a sweet and bubbly girl, who is very fun to work with. One can only be amazed at how many different expressions she’s able to demonstrate with just her face alone.

Makeup on this set was done by Shen.

Khlodia

Here is the installment of the photos from outdoor shoot I posted a few weeks back (I know, I’ve been busy). This series of photos was shot in an abandoned warehouse/building in Ortigas Center. The backdrop was… well, cluttered, but we have to maximize what we have at that moment. All photos were lit by natural light.

Khodia’s makeup was done by Shen.

In addition to my post last week, here are another set of photos from the same batch. I haven’t got the chance to shoot again since then.

Going Wide

I have been using my EF 24-70mm f/2.8L as my all around lens lately. Wonderful and fantastic as it is, the wide end just couldn’t cut it. To solve that problem, I recently acquired an EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 to complement my current stable of lenses and cater the wide end.

I brought it to the beach in Nasugbu, Batangas 2 weeks ago for a spin. Here are some of the shots I took.

Trial Bridal Makeup

Last weekend, I happened to be at Sophie’s place for her trial makeup with Char. This new bride-to-be is all happy and bubbly, and I just can’t help but absorb that sunny vibe. I guess this is one of the reasons why many photographers want to shoot weddings, the overflowing positive vibes are just too good to pass off.

Make up done by Sophie. Drop by her site here, here, here, and here (whew!) and say hi.

Outdoor portraits, at night.

Last week, the boys had the pleasure to shoot Khlodia again, after almost one year. This time, we managed to creep out of the cold and comfy confines of a studio and brave the outdoors.

Upon reaching the penthouse, I was by the greeted by the breathtaking skyline of Ortigas, and thought of making the gorgeous city lights as my backdrop, faded into a creamy bokeh.

Beautiful model - check.
Beautiful backdrop - check.
Off-camera flash and triggers - check.
Large aperture lens - check.
Human light stand - check.

Makeup was done by Shen.
